The back line of Jake Schindler, Anthony Rozzano, Alex Harling, and Tim Crawford as well as goalkeeper William Banahene will all be returning for the 2018 season.

In a 7 game stretch from May 26th to June 23rd, the back line only conceded 2 goals in 7 games. The defense only gave up 10 goals the entire 2017 season; 2nd best in the 23 team Midwest Conference.

Jake Schindler was a stand out with Irondequoit High School, earning 1st Team All-Greater Rochester Honors his senior season. Following High School he played 4 years at Roberts Wesleyan College, where he was a 3-time 1st Team All-American Mideast Conference selection, and a 3rd Team NAIA All-American in his senior season. A native of Rochester, he has played indoor soccer for the Lancers and the Silver Knights for the last several years. In his 3rd season with the Silver Knights, he scored 8 goals and blocked 20 shots. Schindler captained the outdoor Lancers this past season, serving as an anchor on a defense that only gave up 10 goals the entire season; while making 4th Team All-NPSL. Jake played 900 minutes in 10 games, had 1 assist, and the team only allowed 9 goals while he was on the field.

There are a lot of great personal stories from the members of the Rochester Lancers, but one of great perseverance has been goalkeeper William Banahene. The Brighton native attended 4 colleges in 4 years, before settling down at Buffalo State, where he was the starting goalkeeper for 2 years, leading the team to an 18-10-3 record. After getting cut by the Lancers' predecessors, the Rochester River Dogz in 2016, and starting the 2017 season as the back up, he took his opportunity to shine when being named the starting goalkeeper in the 2nd game of the season. He went on to concede only 2 goals in his 1st 7 starts, on his way to being named 4th Team All-NPSL in 2017. For his efforts, the Lancers nominated Banahene to the 2018 National Premier Soccer League Player Showcase, where his Midwest Team made it to the final, only to lose on penalty kicks. For the Lancers in 2017, William played 10 games, 892 minutes, only allowing 7 goals and made 56 saves.

Anthony Rozzano wears many hats. From young soccer prodigy in Webster NY, to All-American High School Soccer Star, All Conference Division I athlete, Rochester Lancer, and coach at Empire Academy, he is one of the more talented players to ever emerge from the Greater Rochester area. A student of the game, he is just as comfortable playing left fullback as he is striker or center midfield. Wherever he is called upon on the field, he is able to provide cover. The Dutch coined the term "Total Football" which is a tactical theory that any outfield player can take over the role of any other player in a team. This theory is the embodiment of Anthony's approach to the game. For the Lancers in 2017, Anthony played 10 games, 805 minutes, had 2 assists, and the team only allowed 7 goals while he was on the field.

Alex Harling was the iron man on the Lancers last year, leading the team in minutes played  with 1039, and games played with 12. The team only allowed 10 goals when he was on the field. Alex played 4 years at Roberts Wesleyan, making NCCAA East Region First Team his senior year.

Tim Crawford Attended Webster Thomas High School where he played varsity soccer in his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. A two time First Team All-County and First-Team All-Greater Rochester pick, he was Section V All-Star game Offensive MVP as a senior. He is third all-time in goals and assists at Webster Thomas. Tim Played 59 and started 44 at Hartwick University where he had 3 goals and 4 assists. He was a member of Indoor Lancers in 2014, 2015. For the Lancers in 2017, Tim played 10 games, 547 minutes, and the team only allowed 2 goals while he was on the field.
