Rochester Lady Lancer, and 2017 Iron Woman of the Year(Most Minutes Played in UWS) is going to get her chance to play Internationally this year for the Philippines Women’s National Team. She played in all 10 games last year for the Lady Lancers, playing every minute of the season.
The Peachtree City, Georgia native qualifies for the Philippines squad through her maternal grandfather who is a native of that country. Her maternal grandmother is a native of Hawaii but is Filipino. She is one of many players on the Philippines National Team who are not born in the country, but qualify by having family members who are of Filipino ancestry.
She will play in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup from April 6-20 in Amman, Jordan which also serves as qualifiers for next year's Women's World Cup in France. The top two teams in each group qualify directly and the two 3rd place team's playoff to determine the 5th spot that will qualify for the Women's World Cup. They play hosts Jordan on April 6, China on April 9, and Thailand on April 12.
Philippines are currently ranked 69th in the World in the latest FIFA Women's World Rankings, and 15th in the Asian Football Confederation.
Patterson is in the process of obtaining Philippines citizenship in, which she needs to play for the national team. She has never visited the birthplace of her grandfather, but plans on going this year.
Lady Lancers coach Sal Galvano said of Patterson, "Dylan is a great player that represented the Lady Lancers as a true professional. She is a competitor at heart and I'm glad for the opportunity she is having to represent her home country in World Cup Qualifiers. We wish her the very best and hope she returns to the Lady Lancers if not this year than hopeful next year."
Currently a sophomore at Winthrop University, Patterson has played in every game her first two seasons at Winthrop and started all but two. As a defender she scored one goal and one assist during her freshman year.
Dylan earned All-State honors and a state championship with Starr’s Mill High School. She was All-Region three straight years at Starr’s Mill and the Panthers were state runner-up her sophomore and senior years, and state champions her junior year.
