42 Years Since Playoffs!!

(Rochester, NY)   The NPSL Rochester Lancers travel to Ann Arbor Michigan tonight to play AFC Ann Arbor. Game time is 6:30pm EST. The Lancers are a locally owned and operated team, and have not been in an outdoor playoff game since 1977. 42 years ago, the NASL Lancers played the NY Cosmos at Giants Stadium. 74,000 fans and a world-wide TV audience watched the Cosmos beat our Lancers 4-1.

Head Coach Doug Miller and his team just finished second in the NPSL Eastern Division with a 6-2-2 record. This is the outdoor Lancers third season under Miller's guidance, and their first playoff game tonight. Captain "Earthquake” Jake Schindler and leading scorers Uros "MoMo" Momic and Michael Cunningham made the trip.

“Several late season key injuries have been an issue,” said Miller. “Anthony Rozzano, Austin Gerber, Enrique Hidalgo, Isaac Kissi, Zikret Osmic and Lukas Fernandes are out.”

“The Utica City indoor professionals paired with Rochester’s finest stars have brought us this far, and we are ready for playoffs!” said Assistant Coach Adam Schwartz.

“I'm extremely proud of this team,” said SoccerSam Fantauzzo. “We are a locally owned not-for-profit with a volunteer staff. Most of our players are Rochester residents and love our City.”

“Our local players are amazing role models and give back to our youth soccer community,” said Team President Ashley Maria King. “It’s now time for Rochester to support and cheer for this team! Let’s Go Lancers!”
