Claire Myers scored two goals and set up a third.

Less than 15 hours after going down to a 4-0 defeat at the Connecticut Fusion, the Rochester Lady Lancers bounced back with their first win of the United Women’s Soccer season Saturday, a 6-0 victory over the Worcester Smiles at Foley Stadium in Worcester, Mass.

The Lady Lancers (1-1-1, 4 points) exploded for five second-half goals to turn the game on its head after grabbing a 1-0 halftime advantage in a match that kicked off at the ungodly hour of 10:30 a.m.

Fairport, N.Y. native Claire Myers paced the visitors with two goals and an assist while Leah Wengender added a goal and two assists. Taylor Wingerden collected a goal and an assist. Olivia Damico also found the net.

Apparently, Rochester tallied an own goal because only five players were given credit for goals on the league website. There was no indication that an own goal was scored.

Goalkeeper Kenna Kosinki made three saves en route to her first shutout of the young season.

Keepers Brittany Henderson played the opening 59 minutes for the Smiles, allowing two goals and producing six saves. Taylor Floyd took over for the final 31 minutes and conceded four goals while making one save.

On Friday night, Rochester suffered its first loss of the season, falling in a 4-0 result to the Connecticut Fusion at the Farmington Sports Arena in Farmington, Conn.

Meghan Doyle recorded a hat-trick for the winners before leaving the game in the 74th minute. Chanel Johnson tallied the other goal and contributed an assist. Vivien Bell helped set up two goals against Kosinski, who made six saves.

Alessandra Augur made seven saves for Connecticut.

The Lady Lancers return home to Charles A. Schiano Field at Aquinas Stadium in Rochester, N.Y. to host the Long Island Rough Riders Sunday, June 2 at 2 p.m. In the second game of a doubleheader, the Lancers will welcome Cleveland SC in a National Premier Soccer League encounter at 5 p.m. The Lancers play at Cleveland at George Finnie Stadium Sunday at 2 p.m.
