Jake Schindler is back with the Rochester Lancers, in a new leadership role as Head Coach.

The Lancers organization announced last week that the team is coming back in a “boutique arena” style season, that will have invite-only access at Rochester Regional Health Total Sports Experience facility in East Rochester. This Lancers2 team will compete in the M2 league, which is 2nd division indoor soccer behind the MASL.

Jake Schindler is considered not only a Lancers Legend, but a veteran superstar in both the indoor & outdoor soccer settings. The former West Irondequoit High School standout is a popular player with the fans, and a respected teammate of the players.

Jake Schindler is a 10 year indoor pro player. He started his indoor pro career in 2011 with the Indoor Lancers their inaugural season, and went on to play for the Syracuse Silver Knights, Utica City FC, and the Florida Tropics. He returned to play for the Lancers MASL team in 2021, but was then loaned to the Florida Tropics after the Lancers opted out of the 2021 indoor season due to Covid-19. He then returned to Utica City FC for the 2022 season. Schindler has played every outdoor NPSL season with the Lancers since the outdoor Lancers inaugural season in 2017. He holds many titles within the Lancers organization, NPSL, M2 & MASL leagues including but not limited to: Captain, MVP, Player of the Week, All-Team Honors, and Defender of the Year. He has led many teams to playoffs and championship games.

“Schindler’s experience on the field as Team Captain has already positioned himself as a great mentor & leader,” said Salvatore SoccerSam Fantauzzo, “he will make an excellent coach and we are so excited for the upcoming season.“

Jake is one of the most loved players in the Lancers' modern history, and he is respected on and off the field.

“The Lancers have a loyal & loud fan base,” said Kayla Kent-Moreira, “we expect this announcement as Jake joining the coaching staff to be supported and celebrated by all of our amazing fans.”

The Lancers organization wants to use this Lancers2 season to help develop local players and kick open doors of opportunity to help players fulfill their soccer dreams.

“We are all about local here at the Lancers,” said Ashley Maria King, “Jake is a local superstar that has dedicated his efforts to this sport & this community. He will do a fantastic job guiding & educating these young players to follow his footsteps and take their game to the next level.”

Jake is replacing veteran & local Legend Doug Miller as Head Coach of the Lancers. Doug Miller is focusing on his youth soccer program in and outside of the Rochester area. Doug is also proof of a pattern of growth and opportunity in the Rochester Soccer Market as a local star, turned pro player, turned coach. Schindler is following a similar track, and brings a fresh face & perspective to the team’s upcoming season.

"I’m honored and excited to take over as the Head Coach of the Rochester Lancers," said Jake Schindler, "As being a part of the Lancers family for 11 years I’m very lucky to build off the hard work of Doug Miller and all the previous coaches and staff. Thanks to Sam, Kayla and Ashley for trusting me in managing this team and my wife for continuing to let me pursue my dreams. I fully expect to be competing for a championship and am excited for the hard work ahead."

Jake & his wife Laura are blessed with a beautiful daughter Blakely, and are expecting another daughter due in January.

“The Lancers organization is a family and we are honored that Jake & his family have joined us this season,” said Salvatore SoccerSam Fantauzzo, “for years we’ve announced him onto the field as Jake The Snake or Earthquake Jake- I now have to come up with a Head Coach nickname!”

All Lancers2 home games will stream live on LancersTV. Home game attendance will be limited to exclusive invite-only season ticket holders, sponsors and community leaders. The team will play six away games starting in January 2023 and six home games in Rochester starting at the end of February. The M2 league schedule will be announced soon.
