ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Rochester Lancers head coach Jake Schindler has been rewarded for his team's perfect 12-0-0 regular season as he was named the Major Arena Soccer League 2 coach of the year.

Schindler was a star behind the bench and on the floor, directing the team to the fifth perfect regular season in M2's seven-year history. He served as player-coach, scoring four goals and adding 18 assists in 11 matches. He finished third overall in points {22).

He has an extensive Major Arena Soccer League background. Schindler appeared in 206 MASL games with the Lancers, Syracuse Silver Knights, Florida Tropics, Utica City and the Baltimore Blast. He scored 41 goals and added 63 assists and recorded 177 blocked shots.

Schindler became the second coach in the team's history to be named a league's coach of the year.

Sal DeRosa earned that honor when he guided the outdoor team to the 1970 North American Soccer League championship after taking over for Alex Perolli midway through the season.

The second-seeded Lancers will meet the Iowa Raptors in the M2 quarterfinals in Wichita, Kansas on Friday at 2 p.m. ET.

The semifinals are set for Saturday and the final and third-place match will be played on Sunday.
