Going into today's game, the Lady Lancers had not won a game in franchise history. Today that changed in a big way, with a 9-3 win over the Worcester Smiles.

Playing their 2nd game in as many days, the Lancers came out a little sluggish, feeling the affects of games on back to back days, but woke up as the game got going. Being down 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, the Lancers answered back with a goal each time they conceded and had the game tied 3-3 at the break.

The Lancers then exploded for 6 goals in a crazy 2nd half. Brooke Barbuto led the way with 3 goals and 1 assist. Elin Eklund also found the net 3 times.

Other contributors were: Margaret Lee 1 goal 2 assists, Mariah Williams 1 goal 1 assist, Marla Roberts 1 goal 1 assist, Taylor Wingerden 2 assists, Caroline Kopp 1 assist and Mary Locicero 1 assist.

Coach Sal Galvano praised his team saying: "coming away with 4 points is on the road is huge, especially against a team with the pedigree of the New England Mutiny, a program that has semi-pro history. We should have come away with the win, we outplayed them in all aspects of the game, but we found ourselves down 2-1 towards the end of the game and got a last second equalizer, which showed our fight."

As for today's match Coach Galvano talked about "the difficulty of playing back to back days. We had to switch line ups because of fatigue, but it was an overall good team effort. I am really happy with character of the players, they never give up. The additions of midfield trio of Elin Eklund, Bella Kohler, and Margaret Lee as well as Brooke Barbuto in a free role have been instrumental to the teams impressive start. On the defensive end, Caroline Kopp and Caitrin Rennoldson played well in both games."

The Lady Lancers have already eclipsed their 2017 point total (1) and goals scored (10) in just 2 games. The win brings them to 1-0-1 on the season, with 11 goals scored and 5 allowed.

They open their home schedule May 27th vs the Connecticut Fusion at 2 pm at Rhinos Stadium.
