ROCHESTER, NY (Oct. 8, 2019) - The Rochester Lancers of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) are proud to announce the return of two star players for the 2019-2020 season, Alex Harling and Austin Gerber.  Both players were part of last season’s M2 Indoor Lancers and the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Outdoor Lancers. Harling and Gerber helped both Lancers Indoor and Outdoor Teams reach the playoffs in 2019. Per league and team policies, no further terms of the agreement were disclosed.

“Alex and Austin are the two fastest players I have seen in a long time,” Said Salvatore SoccerSam Fantauzzo.  “I think both of these Rochester standouts will be top scorers in the upcoming MASL season.”

Alex Harling, Forward, #14.

Born and raised in Rochester, NY, Harling attended Rush-Henrietta High School and played three seasons as a midfielder. He made All-County and Section V Select Team. Harling attended college at Roberts Wesleyan. He made over 50 starts as a Defender over his four years at Roberts Wesleyan. Harling was part of two seasons when Roberts Wesleyan went to the National Tournament. Harling played in 12 Indoor M2 Lancers games, with 3 assists in regular season and 1 playoff goal as a defender. In this past NPSL Outdoor Lancers season, Harling played 12 games, and was named the “Kick This! Defender of the Year.” Head Coach Doug Miller has converted Harling from a Defender to a Forward in the Off-Season. Harling has a career as a Metrology Technician, and can solve a Rubik Cube in under a minute.

Austin Gerber, Forward, #15.

Born and raised in Rochester, NY, Gerber attended Churchville-Chili High School, where he made First Team All Sectional Team. Gerber had 45 goals and 12 assists at Keuka College. He received Rookie of the Year Honors, and was on the All-Conference Team for all four seasons. He was Player of the Year and First Team All-Region Honors his Senior Year. He broke the single season goal record at Keuka with 26 goals and he also broke the single game goal record with 5 goals. He led NCAA Divisions in goals scored, goals per game, and points per game. In 2015, Gerber was invited to the MLS combines, and injuries prevented him from continuing. Gerber appeared in 10 M2 Lancers Indoor games, scoring 6 goals and 1 assist. In the Lancers past NPSL Outdoor Season, Gerber played in 11 games, scoring 4 goals and 1 assist. In the off-season, Austin enjoys hiking with his Golden Retriever, Harper.

The MASL opens its season the weekend of November 22. The Lancers play a 24-game schedule, beginning with a visit to St. Catherines, Ontario for a pair of games against MetroStars Canada November 22 and 24. The Lancers Home Opener is on Friday, November 29 at the New Dome Arena.
